Waste Tire Recycling Program

Used tiresWaste Resources & Recycling Centers accept used passenger/truck tires free of charge at all six recycling facilities.  Limit of 5 per visit.

The objective of the Maricopa County Waste Resources & Recycling Department is to successfully manage and operate the County’s Waste Tire Program. While providing a beneficial service to the residents if Maricopa County.  The responsibility of our department is to ensure that all waste tires are recycled and/ or properly disposed of as outlined by the State of Arizona. 

Another goal set forth by the department, is to become a leader and model for other States and Counties that are responsible for managing a Waste Tire Program. The Department seeks to provide education and information in all aspects of the Waste Tire Program.

DEFINITIONS

"Motor Vehicle” means any automobile, motorcycle, truck, trailer, semi trailer, truck tractor and semi-trailer, combination or other vehicle operated on the roads of this state, used to transport persons or property and propelled by power other than muscular power, but motor vehicle does not include traction engines, vehicles that run only on a track, bicycles or mopeds.

"Off road motor vehicle” (non-program) means any automobile, motorcycle, truck, trailer, semi-trailer, truck tractor and semi-trailer combination, heavy equipment used in mining or metallurgical operations, agriculture, construction or earth moving activities and propelled by power other than muscular power but off road motor vehicle does not include traction engines, vehicles that run only on a track, bicycles or mopeds.    

"Waste tire” means a tire that is no longer suitable for its original intended purpose because of wear, damage or defect.

Residents can drop off up to 5 car and/or truck tires per visit at any of our transfer stations.
