Tuberculosis (TB) Control & Prevention

The Tuberculosis Control and Prevention program provides diagnostic, treatment, and case management services for Maricopa County residents and visitors diagnosed with latent tuberculosis infection and active tuberculosis disease.

The program manages the needs of individuals who are at high risk for TB disease or latent infection, individuals who are contacts to active TB cases, individuals who are suspected of having active TB disease, and individuals whose cases are reported to the program from private providers and hospitals. By law, TB is a reportable disease and private providers and hospitals are required to report cases of TB to the Department of Public Health.

The program only performs diagnostic procedures, such as chest x-rays, for clinic patients under the orders of a medical provider in the TB Clinic.

TB Clearance

If you are required to obtain TB clearance for an employer, school, or to perform volunteer work, you must obtain a Health Card. The program offers Health Cards indicating TB disease status to Maricopa County residents and visitors that require TB clearance, for any reason, for a fee of $65. Based on your medical history and symptoms, you may be screened and tested for TB using a skin test, a blood test, or a chest x-ray, as determined by the program's clinical staff.

Health cards are available on a walk-in basis, and no appointment is necessary. Please be advised that TB skin tests will require you to return to the clinic 48-72 hours after the skin test is placed. For this reason, skin tests are not administered on Thursdays, or on Fridays if the following Monday is a holiday.

We accept the following forms of payment: cash, MasterCard, VISA or American Express. Sorry, we do not accept personal checks and we do not bill insurance companies.
