PHOENIX (February 1, 2021) – Maricopa County Air Quality Department (MCAQD) is administering the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) State Clean Diesel Grant Program, which is designed to improve air quality by eliminating diesel emissions with newer cleaner burning technology.
Organizations within Maricopa County that have fleets can apply to receive funding for the retrofit, repower, or replacement of qualified medium to heavy duty diesel fleet vehicles or equipment. Organizations also have the option to replace fleet vehicles or school buses with model years 2010 or newer with new zero emission or low-NOx vehicles. This includes electric and hydrogen-fueled vehicles.
Applications are due on March 15, 2021 by 5:00 p.m. MST. Funding is limited for the current award period, and subawards will be granted based on the amount of pollutants reduced, total project cost, and the applicant’s ability to complete the project by September 30, 2022. Subawards will be announced in October 2021. Details regarding the program and link to the application can be accessed at maricopa.gov/4509/Clean-Diesel-Program.
