PHOENIX (June 13, 2018) – Since its launch in September 2012, the Maricopa County Air Quality Department’s Clean Air Make More mobile application has been downloaded more than 40,000 times. (40,335 as of June 13, 2018).
The free application provides Maricopa County residents with real-time air quality information, forecasts, restrictions and the ability to report violations.
Recognizing that many Maricopa County residents typically spend more time on their smartphones and tablets than any other device, the Air Quality Department developed the Clean Air Make More app to provide a resource that allows residents to easily access real-time information about the air they breathe.
“The fact that the app is so popular confirms that residents are aware of the valley’s air quality challenges and want to help clean our air,” Maricopa County Air Quality Department Director Philip McNeely said. “The mobile app is ideal for reaching our more mobile audience, increasing awareness and educating our residents.”
The latest release of the app (Version 2.5.2) has been updated with layout and screen detection for iOS 11 and added support for the iPhoneX. Interactivity with detailed tips and restriction information about Health Watches and High Pollution Advisories has also been added.
The Clean Air Make More app features:
- Real-time air quality information and detailed air pollution statistics, including ozone, carbon monoxide, PM-10 and PM 2.5 levels
- Air quality index levels (good, moderate, unhealthy for sensitive groups, unhealthy, very unhealthy and hazardous) and definitions
- Real-time air quality updates on restrictions (wood burning, leaf blower use, off-road vehicle use)
- “Report a violation” option, similar to what is found on CleanAirMakeMore.com, where users can report an air quality violation or a smoking vehicle
