According to the World Health Organization, social determinants are factors that contribute to a person’s current state of health. These include a person’s:

- Environmental Influences Such as Housing Conditions and Access to Affordable, Quality Health Care
- Ethnic Background
- Genetics
- Income
- Lifestyle Behaviors

The goal of public health is to create an opportunity for everyone to reach their full health potential and to make "the healthy choice, the easy choice."
